Our Team

Amy Woolcott 

BA(Hons) APFS Certs CII (FS,MP&ER)

DIRECTOR & CHARTERED FINANCIAL PLANNER

Amy joined Star House in 2010 following her graduation from the University of Bristol and is now a Chartered Financial Planner and a Director of the company.

Amy works alongside Damian to keep Star House running smoothly, with the bulk of her time being spent advising both new and existing clients on all matters relating to retirement planning, tax planning, investments and general financial planning. Although she deals with clients of all ages and life stages,

Amy has developed particular expertise in advising some of our more elderly clients, particularly in relation to long term care funding.

Away from the office, Amy is a keen Francophile, harpist and choir member, who also enjoys trying (and usually failing) to beat her husband at Scrabble.

Paula Bond 

DipPFS Certs CII(MP&ER)

FINANCIAL ADVISER

Paula joined Star House in November 2013, having worked for the UK’s largest bank since 1985. Her last five years at the bank involved helping Premier clients with their wealth requirements. 

 

Paula holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and advises clients on investments, pensions, protection and general financial planning.

 

Paula’s outside interests include keeping fit, travel and short story writing.

Damian Watkins

BSc FPFS Certs CII(MP&ER)

DIRECTOR & CHARTERED FINANCIAL PLANNER

Damian joined Star House in 2005 and is now a Director of the firm, having previously worked in Retirement Income for one of the largest IFA/Asset Management Companies in the UK and earlier in the Pensions department of one of Australia’s most renowned Wealth Management firms.
A graduate in Economics with Actuarial Studies from Southampton University, Damian has achieved Chartered Financial Planner status and is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.

A keen fan of Welsh rugby, Damian spends most of his time advising clients as well as being responsible for researching new investment and tax planning opportunities.

Samuel Blanning

BSc(Hons) APFS CertsCII(MP&ER)

CHARTERED FINANCIAL PLANNER

Samuel graduated in Economics at the University of Bath in 2007 and has worked for Star House since 2009, becoming an adviser in 2018.

 

Sam specialises in more technical cases such as pension transfers and achieved Chartered status in early 2019.

 

Sam is a keen road and cross-country runner and has completed several marathons and ultramarathons, and is also currently studying Brazilian jiu-jitsu. His other interests include science fiction and chess.

Nicki Walker

Dip PFS

PARAPLANNER

Nicki joined the Star House team as a Paraplanner in November 2017, and has 24 years of experience in financial services working for a number of IFAs and Life & Pensions companies.

 

As well as supporting the advisers with paraplanning duties, Nicki helps with training and developing the skills of our support staff. She holds the Diploma in Financial Planning and is studying towards the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.

 

Most of Nicki’s spare time is devoted to her young twins, but she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Julie Palmer

Dip PFS

PARAPLANNER

Julie joined Star House in December 2018 having worked in Financial Services since 2006. Her career has involved a number of paraplanning and senior roles at companies such as Standard Life, HSBC, RBS and most recently Wealth at Work.

Julie is the latest addition to the Paraplanning team at Star House, using her technical knowledge and experience to support the advisers and assist with client administration.

 

Away from work, Julie enjoys travelling and spending time with family. Her interests include science fiction films and reading suspense thrillers.

Tom Douglas-Jones

BA (Hons)

CLIENT ADMINISTRATOR

Tom graduated from Staffs University in 2013 with an honours degree in Sports Journalism before spending a year writing sports content on a freelance basis.

He then spent three years at an upholstery company as a digital administrator, managing the company’s websites and social media. Tom joined Star House in June 2017 and currently oversees client review work and administration and works on the website. 

Outside of work, Tom enjoys playing and watching football. His interests include writing, film, TV, gaming and travelling.

Rosie Bentley

BA(Hons)

CLIENT ADMINISTRATOR

Rosie has worked in financial services since 2001 after graduating in English Studies at the University of Gloucestershire, and has completed the Certificate in Financial Planning.

 

With a keen eye for detail, Rosie oversees all aspects of the company’s administration of our clients’ financial affairs.

Outside of work Rosie is a keen walker and can often be found hiking around Somerset.

Sherry Ho 

BA(Hons) Dip PFS

CLIENT ADMINISTRATOR

Sherry started at Star House in June 2019, joining the support team to assist with general client administration and processing. Sherry has a degree in Accounting from the University of Glasgow and earned the Diploma in Financial Planning in 2018.

 

As one of our client administrators, Sherry helps to arrange information for client reviews and specialises in producing technical spreadsheets and forecasts.

 

Outside of work, Sherry enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends and is always looking to try out new cooking recipes.

Nikki Lewis

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Nikki joined the team in October 2018 and will likely be the first face you see when visiting Star House.

 

As our front-of-house and office administrator, Nikki is responsible for greeting clients and is always on hand to offer a hot beverage. She also assists with client reviews, general administration and keeps the office running smoothly.

 

On the weekends, Nikki dabbles in catering and enjoys gardening and spending time with friends.
