What We Do

Introductory Meeting

Star House always offers prospective clients a no-obligation initial meeting at our expense, during which we will evaluate your current situation, discuss your financial goals and assess whether we can work together to meet those aims. Please contact us in advance to arrange an appointment with one of our advisers. If you wish to contact a specific adviser directly, please view the "Our Team" page.

General Financial Advice

In many cases, our recommendations may not involve any financial product at all. We feel it is our duty to assist our ongoing clients with general tax queries including ensuring all of the appropriate and available tax allowances are utilised. We also advise our long-standing clients on subjects such as wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, retrieving State Pension estimates and the most attractive interest rates for cash deposits.

Once there is a clear understanding of what Star House can do to help achieve your financial objectives, the next stage will be to develop a comprehensive financial plan tailored to your needs. In some cases, this may lead to a formal recommendation of a financial product appropriate for long or short term planning.

As part of our Wealth Management Service, we perform regular reviews of our client's financial affairs, which includes providing an updated valuation of all known investments, pensions and protection policies. These reviews are conducted annually at the very least or more frequently if necessary. We believe it is essential to ensure your plans stay on track and in line with your objectives.

For certain clients, there may be the need to consider mitigating the impact of taxes (such as inheritance tax), implementing a strategy to ensure wealth is passed on smoothly to the desired beneficiaries. Our advisers have the specific qualifications that are required to advise on care-fee planning and are able to assist with estate planning and setting up trusts.

Preparing for the worst-case scenario is a key element of financial planning and putting in place a protection plan such as life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection or mortgage protection is something that everyone should consider. Our advisers are qualified to compare protection products from the whole of the market, using comparison tools to retrieve the best quotes available.

OUTSIDE OUR AREA OF EXPERTISE

STANDALONE MORTGAGE ADVICE

We don’t provide standalone mortgage advice, but can offer this to our Wealth Management Service clients as part of our holistic financial planning service. If you require standalone mortgage brokering we would be more than happy to refer your details to a specialist mortgage adviser who we work with closely on a regular basis.

AUTO-ENROLMENT / WORKPLACE OR GROUP PENSION SCHEMES

We focus on financial planning for individuals and although we can help company owners with their own pension planning, we do not generally get involved in the setting up and ongoing administration of group pension schemes.

TRANSACTIONAL ADVICE OR EXECUTION ONLY

As a general rule, most of our services are geared towards providing holistic advice on an ongoing basis and it is not often we conduct one-off transactional business, nor do we provide an "execution only" service. We believe good quality advice is rarely transactional and success is evidenced by building long term relationships with our clients.
